CASA: CITIZENS AGAINST SPOUSE ABUSE

Violence Breaks Up Families... and Ruins Lives

Due the economy, CASA funding has been cut. The safe houses are in need of groceries-- especially food cards from any grocery store, in any amount, will be greatly appreciated.

Since June, our church has donated 31 bags/boxes to CASA, which included clothing, household items, books, and non-perishable food. A big "thank you" to everyone who has contributed.
During this flu season they especially need hand sanitizers for the safe houses, as well as paper products such as toilet paper and paper towels. They also need laundry detergent. Please bring all your donations to church marked CASA. Thank you for your generosity.

WANTED - YOUR PHOTOS
We would like your pictures from church events to be included in our monthly newsletter and on our parish website.  If you have digital pictures please e-mail them to Donna Tripp at the office.

One of this year's raffle prizes was a signed and numbered print (No. 001) of our church. A total of 200 prints have been made and signed as a fundraiser for our church. The signed, unframed prints are $20 each, and would make a great gift for someone who has a wedding or a baptism, etc. in our church. The prints could be matted with the date of the event to commemorate a special occasion. These prints are available in the church office, and proceeds will benefit our parish.

Parish Council President's Message

Dear Parishioners,

I hope this letter finds you all well and healthy. It is with sadness that I must inform you that Father Konstantine and his family will be leaving us. His last Sunday to serve our community will be on March 14, 2010. Father has the opportunity to be closer to his extended family. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Father for his service to our community. We wish him and his family well on their new journey.

We will have an interim priest, Fr. Regis Alexoudis, until the Metropolis can find us another full-time priest. Once again, we find ourselves with no captain for our ship. It is important that during this time we all pull together to keep our Church flourishing. We will need to keep our faith and prevail to keep this Orthodox Church a beacon for all Orthodox in this area. We have been through this before, and we know that it will take each and every individual to join hands and work hard to keep the programs and the Church strong.

I would also like to inform everyone that our bi-annual General Assembly meeting will take place on Sunday, March 14, 2010. Please be reminded that you need to be a member in good standing to participate, which gives me the opportunity to remind everyone if you have not filled out your annual stewardship pledge card, please do so as soon as possible. For those of you that have, thank you for your continued support.

As always I wish everyone well, much health, and love in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Respectively,

George N. Spirakis
Acting President

January 21st, 2010

On January 21st, Dena Platingos, Loretta Siotka, Linda Moustakis, Angie Spyralatos, Maria Kiser and Lili Morris were driven to Charleston in a borrowed limo (thanks to Lili's son, Deane Morris) to attend the dedication of the new MUSC Children's Hospital chapel. The area designated as "A Place to Pray" was funded by National and Metropolis Philoptochos special projects totaling $33,216. Present at the dedication were Fr. John Johns and 9 members of the Charleston chapter of Holy Trinity Church, along with Dee Nicolaou representing the Metropolis.
